CHANDOS RECORDING LABEL
English is the language of the day for Chandos. They have a terrific catalogue of operas, solos and compilations all in the English language! Jennifer Larmore recorded her first solo CD with this enterprising label in September 2006. This CD is an exploration of the Mezzo voice to the full extent of it's capabilities. Several of the selections are traditionally associated with Sopranos. "Mezzo" means "half" and Mezzos have the best of both worlds--they're half Soprano and half Mezzo! A Mezzo voice, in good condition should be able to sing a high C as well as a low E! Among arias included in this CD are selections from Wagner's Rienzi, Verdi's Don Carlo and Il Trovatore, Donizetti's La Favorita, Cilea's Adrianna Lecouvreur, Mozart's Don Giovanni, Rossini's Tancredi, and Pochielli's La Gioconda...all in English!

Over a two year period, Jennifer, the Grant Park Orchestra and Carlos Kalmar performed and recorded live the following works: Britten's PHAEDRA, Barber's ANDROMACHE'S FAREWELL, Berlioz' LA MORT DE CLEOPATRA and Ravel's SHEHERAZADE. The legendary Baritone Sherrill Milnes and his energetic wife Maria Zouves have created a foundation that caters to the needs of young singers; encouraging them through master classes, teaching, drama and movement classes as well as providing performance opportunites and scholarships. Every August, since 2003, Jennifer Larmore has given Master Classes at their Orlando, Florida location. Maria Zouves, a self proclaimed "Disney Baby" grew up around the area and not only has been able to create this wonderful program, but has also given the young singers and everyone involved with the program a fun atmosphere in which to learn, teach and grow!
