To all of you who knew my little Schnauzer Sophie, I am sorry to tell you that she died on August 3 from Lymphoma cancer. She was a great friend and a famous opera dog who made a career out of being "Bartolo's" dog in Rossini's Barber of Seville. She made her debut at LA Opera, San Francisco, the Met, Opera de Paris, le Grand Theatre de Geneve, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bonn Opera, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, and in many other houses. She appeared in DOG FANCY, ESSENTIAL BARRINGTON and OPERA NEWS magazines as well as in a Metropolitan Opera Yearly calendar. She appeared with me on various TV shows and had a better life than most children on the planet. She was 13 and I was so glad that I could be there when she went instead of 1,000's of miles away.
